NAEYC is delighted to announce a partnership with ZERO TO THREE, the National Registry Alliance, and Child Trends on a contract for the National Center on Child Care Professional Development Systems and Workforce Initiatives for the federal Office of Child Care. The center will help states and territories develop an integrated, comprehensive professional development system that addresses the range of early childhood workforce roles and responsibilities from preparation through ongoing professional improvement. As part of the center’s work, NAEYC will lead a consortium to help states with the continuum of career pathways and credentials, articulation agreements, alignment with national credentials, and higher education degree program accreditation. The work will address early childhood programs and school-age professionals.
NAEYC also will continue its Early Childhood Workforce Systems Initiative (ECWSI), funded by the generous support of the Birth to Five Policy Alliance and the McCormick Foundation. The ECWSI assists states in developing, enhancing, and implementing public policies for an integrated early childhood professional development system, using tools such as the NAEYC Workforce Designs Blueprint, a database of state policies, and a national NAEYC Summit of States, the only national meeting requiring cross-sector leadership participation focused on integrated professional development systems, and state-specific technical assistance. We are delighted to announce that Heath Ouellette will work part-time on this effort as Early Childhood Workforce Systems Specialist and Billie Young will be working on the ECWSI as Senior Early Childhood Workforce Systems Advisor.
These two complementary enterprises will help advance support for those working with and on behalf of young children, and, as a result, improve the experiences of young children and support the professionals who dedicate themselves to children’s development and learning
