Regular/Affiliate: $50.00
Student: $40.00
Comprehensive: $85.00
There are no special rates for Groups, Centers, or Programs. Memberships are per person only.
Members who join or renew online or by phone are automatically activated. Members who mail their application should have their membership activated within 10 days of the receipt of payment.
Members can expect that their first journal will be mailed to them within one month of receipt of their payment. Young Children is published in January, March, May, September, and November. Teaching Young Children is published in February/March, April/May, June/July, October/November and December/January. If your payment is received during a journal publication month, that issue will be your first journal. If your payment is received in other months, the next journal will be your first issue.
Log into the “Members Only” area. Click on View Account History, then click on receipt for a printable receipt of your payment.
The easiest way to notify us regarding your membership is to go on-line to the “Members Only” area, log in, and update your address. It may take several weeks for some information to change as some mailings may have already started to be processed and have gone to a mailing-house. Please be patient.
Comprehensive Members receive six (6) books during their membership year. Benefits are typically mailed upon their publication. New Comprehensive members receive the current publication as their first book. The publication schedule varies throughout the year. Members can track the number of books mailed to them at “View Benefits Received” after logging into the “Members Only” area.
You can check the benefits you should have received by logging into the “Members Only” area. First check your mailing address to make sure it is correct. Then check “View Benefits Received” to see the dates that mailing labels were generated for the membership benefits. Remember to allow 3-4 weeks from this date for mailing. If you did not receive a benefit listed within this time frame, contact NAEYC Member Services (1.800.424.2460).
Upgrading your membership involves a change in membership level (Regular/Affiliate to Comprehensive membership level or Student to Regular/Affiliate). Your expiration date does not change, and back benefits will be sent to you.
If you “add an affiliation” during your membership year, you are responsible for paying the local, state, and regional dues if you have not already paid them. Your expiration date remains unchanged and your membership dues in the new affiliate are not prorated. You will appear on the affiliates’ membership list immediately.
New members are encouraged to join NAEYC through the early childhood organization affiliated with NAEYC in their state. Current Independent members who did not join through an affiliate may “Add an Affiliation” at any time in their membership year to become an Affiliate member. Independent members who add an affiliation in the first three months (90 days) of their membership year receive up to a $25 discount in national dues that is automatically applied toward the cost of local, state and regional dues.
Yes. Renewal notices are sent from NAEYC. Members receive them about 60 days prior to the expiration date allowing enough time for renewal without interruption. If you receive a renewal notice after you paid your dues, they probably crossed in the mail. You can go on-line to check your membership status in the “Members Only” section. If you are a current member, just disregard the notice. While online, fill out your demographics. This will tell us a little about you and how we can make your membership work better for you.
Your membership will have expired and you will get a new expiration date. Your membership will be one year from the date your membership dues are processed.
When you join NAEYC and Colorado AEYC, you will receive a membership card with your expiration date printed on it. If you have further questions about your membership, you may call either NAEYC or Colorado AEYC.
Your first name is your password until you change it with NAEYC. You may request to have an email sent to the email address on your membership record with your password. Or, contact NAEYC Member Services (1.800.424.2460) for assistance.
The NAEYC membership ID number appears on the NAEYC membership card, mailed the first month of the membership year. It also appears just above your name on the mailing label of the Young Children or Teaching Young Children journals. If neither of these are available, members may request to have it sent to the email in their membership record.
Life memberships pertain only to the national membership portion. When Life members allow the Affiliate membership to lapse, their membership is automatically converted to Independent status so that they will continue to receive only their NAEYC benefits. Use the “Add an Affiliation” to renew the affiliate membership.
Members who do not renew within 90 days of their expiration date are considered a LAPSED member and are assigned a new expiration date when they renew. However, they retain their JOIN date if they renew within 3 years.
No. Membership to Colorado AEYC and NAEYC is on an individual basis. CAEYC and NAEYC does not offer group or organizational membership.
Memberships are becoming more and more a way to show appreciation to someone in the early childhood field. Parents of students are giving memberships as graduation gifts. Some Administrators are giving them with job advancements or benefits to employees, or just as a reward for working a job well done. Make membership applications available in new employee or enrollment packets (download application or call the CAEYC office to obtain brochures). Create a sign in your center or home asking for donations for membership into NAEYC and CAEYC.
Include your membership on your resume. It will help make a statement about how you feel about your profession.
