The award was established in 1973 to recognize the efforts of two founding members of Colorado AEYC. Edna Oliver said that what we need are not monuments but people who live the lives that make growing up better for children and their families.
In the spirit of this philosophy, the award is presented annually at the CAEYC spring conference to an individual who has given distinguished service to children and their families in Colorado at the state and national level.
